"How to Speak Dragonese" recounts the further escapades of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third as he continues his viking training. Climbing on to a Roman Dragon Rustling ship by mistake in your first 'Boarding an Enemy Ship' lesson is bad enough. But to then discover that Alvin the Treacherous is also on board proves to Hiccup he couldn't have been more wrong, especially when he steals his copy of How to Speak Dragonese. Can Hiccup save the dragons and the day?

FRIDAY, December 23rd at Noon: THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF SANTA CLAUS

Lyman Frank Baum, better known by his pen name L. Frank Baum, was an American author chiefly known for his children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He wrote thirteen novel sequels, nine other fantasy novels, and a host of other works (55 novels in total, plus four "lost works", 83 short stories, over 200 poems, an unknown number of scripts, and many miscellaneous writings), and made numerous attempts to bring his works to the stage and screen. His works anticipated such century-later commonplaces as television, augmented reality, laptop computers (The Master Key), wireless telephones (Tik-Tok of Oz), women in high risk, action-heavy occupations (Mary Louise in the Country), and the ubiquity of advertising on clothing (Aunt Jane's Nieces at Work).

Caledonia invites you to join her at the fireside at Seanchai for Baum's 1902 spin on the legend of Claus, the Children's Saint.

Tonight, live in voice.

This is the story of how an orphan called Nikolas became Santa Claus. Many years ago, in Lapland, a boy named Nikolas is orphaned when his family are killed in an accident. The heads of the families in the village meet to decide his future and, as life in the arctic is difficult, it is decided that as no one family could care for him permanently, they would raise him communally, with each family taking him for one year and then moving him on to the next. Grateful, Nikolas begins whittling toys out of wood as a gift which, each Christmas, he leaves for the family that cared for him. It becomes a tradition from then on, with Nikolas never forgetting the children of those families that received him each year. When a blight hits the village, and none of the families can afford to take him in for the next year, he is taken in by grumpy hermit Iisakki as his carpenter's apprentice. Iisakki works him hard but Nikolas is clever and quick to learn, and Iisakki gradually grows to love Nikolas as his own son. Nikolas begins to live more and more for the spirit of Christmas with each passing year and it becomes his life and as he grows old he becomes the figure known as Santa Claus.

WEDNESDAY, December 21st at 7:00pm: A VERY FAERIE CHRISTMAS

Come and share an hour in the warm holiday presence of Faerie Maven-Pralou, as she shares some favorite holiday stories.

TUESDAY, December 20th at 7pm: SERAFINA and THE TWISTED STAFF Resumes

We resume Robert Beatty's second Serafina adventure.

The brave and unusual Serafina lives in the magnificent Biltmore Estate in the opulence of the Gilded Age and the rugged beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Deep in the forest, she comes face-to-face with the evil infecting Biltmore--and discovers its reach is far greater than she'd ever imagined. To defeat this new evil before it engulfs her beloved home, Serafina must search deep inside herself and embrace the destiny that has always awaited her.

SUNDAY, December 18th: THE DICKENS PROJECT Finale!

We enter our final event day for THE DICKENS PROJECT SL - 2016

Image of The Dickens Project SL 2016 by Derry McMahon
Dickens' contemporary, William Makepeace Thackeray, was as scathing a critic as ever walked the street of London, once said of A Christmas Carol, "Who can listen to objections to such a book as this? It seems to me a national benefit, and to every man or woman who reads it, a personal kindness."

@ 11am - Traditional Dances and Music with Wald Schridde, 17th and 18thC tunes played in traditional instruments, live in Christmas Present Square. COME EARLY in case the Raglan Shire Tiny Carolers make one final, triumphant Wootmas appearance!

@ NOON: THE BIG READ: "A Christmas Carol" - All the words of every stave presented all at once by a cast of voices, presenting in relay. Est 3.5 hours. Live in Christmas Present Square.

The Dickens Project 2016 on Water Haven in Second Life.

The build will be open to the public through the end of the virtual day Tuesday.

SATURDAY, December 17th at 1pm: FEZZIWIG'S BALL

Come and join us at the Christmas Past Dock for Fezziwig's Ball, featuring DJ Dano Bookmite!

But the great effect of the evening came after the Roast and Boiled, when the fiddler (an artful dog, mind! The sort of man who knew his business better than you or I could have told it him!) struck up 'Sir Roger de Coverley.' Then old Fezziwig stood
out to dance with Mrs. Fezziwig. Top couple, too; with a good stiff piece of work cut out for them; three or four and twenty pair of partners; people who were not to be trifled with; people who would dance, and had no notion of walking.

Period dress is encouraged but not required. Just come along and dance like its 1843, or earlier!

and is Co-Sponsored by Kultivate Magazine
