SUNDAY, June 24th at 1:30pm: TEA TIME with Jane Austen

More fun from MANSFIELD PARK as the great theatrical production including the Crawfords, The Bertrams, several suitors and Fanny is about to take place.  None of the attendant "Adults" seem to realize the romantic liabilities at play in this most unseemly (for the period) display.  Is it "just a play"? Or is it an opportunity to "play out" other motives and passions simmering beneath the surface?

Join Caledonia in the lower level of the Library, sip a cuppa and find out how the curtain will come down!

Azazel, the Two-Centimetre Demon

The problem is, Azazel can’t use his powers on anything to help his master directly, so George calls on Azazel to do favours for his friends, like a former lover whose rich husband is too miserly to spend money on travel or a young man who needs a little help attracting women.

Unfortunately for his friends, George was kind enough to ask Azazel to help lend a claw...

THURSDAY, June 14th @7pm: "The Vengeful Undead"

Undead is a collective name for beings that are deceased and yet behave as if alive, either with its own soul or with the soul of a malevolent creature (such as a demon). Undead may be incorporeal, such as ghosts, or corporeal, such as vampires and zombies. Undead are featured in the legends and mythologies of most cultures. In some cases, the undead, especially skeletons and zombies, are under the control of a necromancer. In other cases, such as zombies as depicted in film, the undead existence is passed on like a curse or disease.

Ambrose Bierce's The Death of Halpin Frayser, could not be properly considered zombie fiction, but the supernatural tales of Bierce and Poe would prove influential on later writers such as H. P. Lovecraft. Tonight, more Tales of the "less than passed."

Presented live in Voice by Shandon Loring.

SUNDAY, June 3rd at 2pm: TEA TIME with Jane Austen

Caledonia continues her exploration of Austen with selections from on of the author's best known works, MANSFIELD PARK (1814).

Fanny Price is sensitive, shy, intelligent, virtuous, with a good sense of morals; and her status at Mansfield Park as a dependent poor relation only intensifies these traits. The story contains much social satire, targeted particularly at the two aunts. It is perhaps the most socially realistic Austen novel, with Fanny's family of origin, the Prices, coming from a much lower echelon of society than most Austen characters.

Presented Live In Voice.
