TUESDAY, March 31st at 7pm: DREAMS IN THE SAND with Ktadhn Vesuvino

The best way to see a sand sculpture is to be on the beach, watching as the sand is piled and carved. Hear the breaking waves, feel the spray on your face, taste the salt on your lips, feel the sand under your bare feet. For most people, opportunity is infrequent.

This presentation brings the beach to SL. It is woven from three main components, each of which has fascinated Kt for many years. Photography came first, after he inherited a camera and became interested in visual composition. Writing started as something done for himself and grew beyond that limitation. Sand sculpture was an engineering experiment and, through years, became more wide-ranging because he enjoyed doing it.

Time is the sliding window in which he has built this program. It starts in the fall of 2018 and runs through early March 2020. Some of the sculptures sparked their own poems. Other poems came from less immediate roots, as in between sculptures he thinks about what they're made from and how he make them. There's a shared common core of imagery, word-images, light-images, sand-images. All are necessary.

Presented live on Stream.

WEDNESDAY, March 25th at 7pm: THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH Continues

“Expect everything, I always say, and the unexpected never happens.”

Finn Zeddmore continues Norton Juster’s fantasy adventure for younger readers: a roller coaster of language, wit, and tongue-in-cheek wisdom that is beloved by generations of readers since it was first published in 1961 in an edition famously illustrated by Jules Feiffer.
As he travels "The Lands Beyond" and meets new friends, Milo also discovers something else: life is far from boring or dull; it actually offers much to be discovered.

TUESDAY, March 24th at 7pm: GOBLIN LAKE

During the Thirty Years’ War, a soldier named (of course) Jack is, for a prank, thrown into a lake
whose waters are said to change anything they touch. Beneath the surface, Jack finds a whole other world where time passes rather differently, falls in love with the king of the lake’s daughter.

But – what is fiction, and what is reality?

Author Michael Swanwick has received the Hugo, Nebula, Theodore Sturgeon, and World Fantasy Awards for his work. Stations of the Tide was honored with the Nebula Award and was also nominated for the Hugo and Arthur C. Clarke Awards. "The Edge of the World," was awarded the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award in 1989. It was also nominated for both the Hugo and World Fantasy Awards. "Radio Waves" received the World Fantasy Award in 1996. "The Very Pulse of the Machine" received the Hugo Award in 1999, as did "Scherzo with Tyrannosaur" in 2000.

SUNDAY, March 15th Beginning at 1PM slt: CELEBRATIN' THE GREEN!

No need to nurse your "quarantini" all on your own-some today. Not when Seanchai Library is shining up the Craic with three hours of fun and fellowship, in anticipation of St Patrick's Day.

We confess, it's an old tradition that goes back to our West of Ireland days: when The Festival of St Patrick would begin somewhere about now and run through the Library's Anniversary on the 20th-ish.  Then there was the year we celebrated our 10th Anniversary for 10 days that conveniently spanned St. Pat's AND our Anniversary.

Oh heck!  Who are we kidding?  We just like celebrating. How could we NOT throw a party?

It all begins . . .
@ 1pm slt with Stories & Poetry of Ireland, featuring Dubhna Rhiadra, Aoife Lorefield, Corwyn Allen, and Kayden Oconnell, live.

Followed by . . .
@2pm slt - Celtic Music and Dancing with DJ Aoife Lorefield
@3pm slt - Rockin' Celtic & Bagpipe Tunes with DJ Caledonia Skytower

Both events take place at Murphy's on Chiaroscuro Isle (courtesy of Gloriana Maertens). Come for some or all - Bring a friend and be ready to have fun!  ~ Slainte'

TUESDAY, March 10th at 7PM: VERY FAR AWAY FROM ANYWHERE ELSE Concludes

Ursula le Guin remains best know for her intelligent science fiction and fantasy stories. Tonight, Willow Moonfire concludes one of her stories that steps away from that genre entirely
A moving coming-of age tale, the tale centers on 17-year-old Owen, who is in the middle of his senior year in high school. A loner and intellectual, Owen is an introspective young man who hasn’t found any deep connections to anyone; only his interest in science offers a point of focus for him. While he does spend time with his two closest friends, is a member of various groups at school and enjoys sports, he looks upon that side of his life as a fiction, no more real to him than the pretend utopian world of Thorn, a place he created in his imagination whilst a child.
But Thorn is no longer a place of escape for him; it has become beyond his reach as he moves towards adulthood, and he must now face turning the “fiction” of the physical world into a reality in which he can function and move beyond the potential breakdown he might otherwise face, escape the threat of repeating the lives of his parents and take control of his destiny. (our thanks to Inara Pey for assistance with this content description)

Willow concludes this story - live on stream.
