SUNDAY, December 31st at 1:30pm: TEA TIME on New Year's Eve

Join Caledonia in the Fireside Room for the last stories of 2016, from Maeve Binchy's "Chestnut Street" with two favorites that have become great NYE stories.

THE CLOSING DAY OF DICKENS 2017

It's the Closing Day of The 2017 Edition of The Dickens Project and we have every reason to celebrate.

No stories today?  There are not, but there have been over 25 hours of live stories including plenty of sessions of The Christmas Carol over the last five weeks.

Music?  Yes there will be music, and what's more, The Dickens Project has featured a previously unprecedented 12 hours of music presentations plus five hours of large stage dance performances.

To Date there have been 2900 visits to LEA 7 since the doors opened November 25th, and over 33% of them returned for multiple visits.  As the previous 10-14 days of Dickens expanded to 36 days, more people than ever were touched by The Dickens Project's vision of providing the opportunity to "walk in the steps of Ebenezer Scrooge."

CLOSING DAY celebrates these many successes, before The Dickens Project fades into "Past."

@ 1pm - JOSIE ANDERTON, Live in Dickens Square!
Josie is a breath of fresh air on the live music scene in SL.  Her sultry voice and sense of fun along with an electric mix of blues, rock, pop and romance will have you dancing one minute and sending tingles up your spine the next. Her energy is contagious and Josie's voice defines talent at it's best. One listen and you are hooked. An incredibly interactive, playful performer who's laugh is as infectious as her singing is music for the soul.

2-4pm - THE LAST DANCE in Dickens Square, with DJ Gabrielle Riel
Gabrielle Riel is the general director of Radio Riel and the recipient of the February 2016 Avi Choice Award for Favorite SL Radio DJ.

She has been broadcasting for over 11 years and has played for Second Life Relay for Life, Fantasy Faire, Burn2 and the official 2008 Inauguration Ball for President Barack Obama.

She plays several monthly programs on Radio Riel that feature all music genres with emphasis on Early Music, Celtic, Classical, Jazz and EDM. Learn more at http://radioriel.org .

@ 8pm - The Finale Performance by GUERILLA BURLESQUE

GB is going to help us bid farewell to this year's Dickens Project, bringing their boundless creativity and artistic joy to the stage in a stunning encore-finale performance on Dickens Square.

Come early to grab you seat (the one you sit IN, not the one you sit ON) and be kind to your cache.  NOTE: This is burlesque, so while the show is appropriate for a Moderate sim, it might not suit all tastes.

The Dickens Project on LEA 7, at least for one more day...

FRIDAY, December 29th at 3PM; THE LAST STORIES at the 2017 Edition of The Dickens Project

@ 3PM - GHOST STORIES ~ More than Dickens!
At The Dickens Project on LEA 7

Following a fine tradition of our friends and cousins across the pond, we've been heavily into GHOST STORIES this week, as we bring the 2017 Edition of The Dickens Project into its final days.

Today will be the last story day on LEA 7, with stories by M.R. James and A.R. Burrage with Kayden Oconnell & Caledonia Skytower, in Dickens Square.

M.R. James' THE LOST HEARTS: a mysterious scholar welcomes an orphan boy into his home.  Yet the boy discovers he is not the first young person so welcomed, and ponders the mystery of the sudden disappearances of his predecessors, just as spirits from beyond the veil take things into their own ghostly hands.

A.R. Burrage's SMEE (as retold by Rosemary Border): What could be more playful and innocent than a game of hide-and-go-seek? Perhaps its cousin "Smee" (derived from "It's Me")?  How could a party of a dozen players suddenly come out as thirteen?  Who is the unexpected extra player?

Stories presented live in Voice.

WEDNESDAY, December 27th: Two Sessions at 1PM & 7PM

@ 3PM: GHOST STORIES ~ More Than Dickens!
Montague Rhodes James OM FBA, published under the name M. R. James, was an English author, medievalist scholar and provost of King's College, Cambridge, and of Eton College. James perfected a method of story-telling which has since become known as Jamesian. According to James, the story must "put the reader into the position of saying to himself, 'If I'm not very careful, something of this kind may happen to me!'"  He is best remembered for his ghost stories, which are regarded as among the best in the genre.

TUESDAY,December 26th at 7PM: HO! HO! HOLD ON A MINUTE!

The holidays are great, but they can get too intense and we can get too serious about them. It's time for a little post-holiday reconstruction, each piquant, twisted point made in 100 words. There's only one individual for THAT task.

R. Crap Mariner does what he does best (well, one of them, atleast...) live in voice. Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet.  http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/

THURSDAY December 21st at 7pm: The Homecoming - A Christmas Story

The Homecoming : A Novel About Spencer's Mountain

[long story tonight! 1:20]

The Homecoming - A Christmas Story with Shandon Loring
It is remembered in my family that on Christmas Eve of 1933 my father was late arriving home. That, along with the love he and my mother bestowed upon their eight redheaded offspring, is fact. The rest is fiction.
ALL day the cold Virginia sky had hung low over Walton's Mountain. It was a leaden, silent, moist presence. It promised snow before the fall of night.
This morning Olivia had gone to the upstairs hall where she kept her Christmas Cactus in a spot where the winter sun filtered in through the window.

THURSDAY December 7th at 7pm: IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS pt2

" Council for Temporal Studies asks time travelers to save Christmas "
 IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS
An Out of Time Christmas Novella
part two

At a time when interest in the Christmas holiday was waning, Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol and inspired the world. But now, history is changing, and the book is never written. When the Council for Temporal Studies asks time travelers Simon and Elizabeth Cross to "save Christmas," they think he's joking. But it's anything but a laughing matter. Simon and Elizabeth must go back to 1843 London and convince Dickens to write his endearing story, or the Christmas holiday we all know and love will cease to be--forever.
