SUNDAY, July 1st at 1:30pm: TEA TIME at Baker Street - "A Study in Scarlet" Concludes

A Study in Scarlet
The exciting conclusion (90 Minutes) in the Seanchai Library Fireside Room.

The captured Jefferson Hope continues to unfold the heart-breaking story of John and Lucy Ferrier, how he himself fell in love with young Lucy, and their tragic fate. All of this is context for his subsequent tracking down, and eventually being the agent whereby Drebber and Stangerson - the instruments of John and Lucy's deaths - are brought to his own fitting justice.

TEA TIME at Baker Street: A Study in Scarlet
Continuing (Part 3 of 4) in the Seanchai Library Fireside Room.

The story flashes back to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah in 1847, where John Ferrier and a little girl named Lucy, the only survivors of a small party of pioneers, lie down near a boulder to die from dehydration and hunger. They are discovered by a large party of Latter-day Saints led by Brigham Young. The Mormons rescue Ferrier and Lucy on the condition that they adopt and live under their faith. Ferrier, who has proven himself an able hunter, adopts Lucy and is given a generous land grant with which to build his farm after the party constructs Salt Lake City. Years later, a now-grown Lucy befriends and falls in love with a man named Jefferson Hope.

THURSDAY June 14th at 7pm: THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK - H.P. Lovecraft

"I have seen the dark universe yawning"
THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK

In Providence, Rhode Island, Robert Blake, a young writer with an interest in the occult, becomes fascinated by a large disused church on Federal Hill which he can see from his lodgings on the city's Upper East side. His researches reveal that the church has a sinister history involving a cult called the Church of Starry Wisdom and is dreaded by the local migrant inhabitants as being haunted by a primeval evil.

The being can only go abroad in darkness, and is hence constrained to the tower at night by the presence of the lights of the city. However, when the city electric power is weakened during a thunderstorm, the local people are terrified by the sounds coming from the church. "I see it-- coming here-- hell-wind-- titan-blur-- black wings-- Yog-Sothoth save me-- the three-lobed burning eye..."

WEDNESDAY, June 13TH at 7PM: HELLO, UNIVERSE Concludes

Caledonia concludes Newbery Medalist Erin Entrada Kelly’s funny and poignant story about fate, destiny, and unexpected friendships.

Told from four intertwining points of view—two boys and two girls—the novel celebrates bravery, being different, and finding your inner bayani (hero).

When we left Virgilio, he was trapped in a well with only his imagination and Gulliver the guinea pig to keep him company.  But is he truly alone?  As characters his Lola has instilled in his consciousness from Philippine folklore visit him, and the friends he doesn't fully realize he has search for him, Virgilio is poised on the brink of the universe.

JOIN US FOR 6:30pm SPECIAL Pre-Show Story!!
We present an excerpt from the book 'Ready Player One'
When Parzival plays the song Discovery from the Rush:2112 album it leads to a hidden message essential to unlocking the third gate after finding the Crystal Key!
"We have assumed control"
RUSH 2112: ANTHEM
Tonight we complete our exploration of a famous musical album and the two stories behind it...

2112 is concept album by the band RUSH released in 1976 that uses music to tell a dystopian story set in the year 2112...

In the year 2062, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. By 2112, the world is controlled by the "Priests of the Temples of Syrinx", who determine the content of every facet of life. Then a man discovers a guitar and learns to play different kind of music.

The album is loosely based on the novella 'Anthem' by Ayn Rand that takes place at an unspecified future date when mankind has entered another Dark Age. Technological advancement is now carefully planned and the concept of individuality has been eliminated. A young man known as Equality 7-2521 rebels by doing secret scientific research. When his activity is discovered, he flees into the wilderness with the girl he loves.
