THURSDAY March 1st at 7pm: Monsters & Myths - SIRENS pt2

"a capricious goddess, a magical demigod, a brave youth"
THE SIRENS!
Sirens, half-women, half-birds, who, through enchanting song, call ships and sailors to their destruction. Perched atop sea rocks, the Sirens' seductive voices lure vessels onto the jagged reefs and send men overboard to their deaths.
Once sea-nymphs, the Sirens were cursed by the vengeful sorceress, Circe, whose jealousy was aroused by their youthful spirit and beauty.
Many fall victim to the alluring song of the Sirens. The heroic voyager, Ulysses, finds safe passage only by having himself lashed to the ship's mast and ordering his crew to plug their ears with wax.
This exciting tale draws us into many adventures and mythological encounters. The broad cast of characters includes a capricious goddess, a magical demigod, a brave youth, and the carefree nymphs of sea and glade - all magnified and illuminated within the turbulent world occupied by heroes, gods, and monster.

WEDNESDAY, February 28th at 7pm: POETRY This Year

Every year, 9-12th grade students in the RL State where Caledonia lives choose poems to recite in the national poetry program that Cale coordinates.  20,000 students across 23 counties.  Classic poems, contemporary poems, poems of all kinds and forms.  She shares some of the poems students have selected this year.

Caledonia Skytower, live in voice.

TUESDAY, February 27th at 7pm: MERLIN'S DRAGON Continues

In the years after Fincayra disappears and Merlin has been sent wandering, a young lizard-like creature, with the wings of a bat and the magical power to produce any smell it encounters, is born into the new world of Avalon. The unlikely hero—Basil, he is called—cannot find a single creature like itself nor a person who can tell him what he is. But it is clear that Basil is much more than he seems when he stumbles into an encounter with the great Merlin, saving his child’s life, then uncovers a secret plot by the evil Rhita Gawr. It’s a race against time and across Avalon as Basil, with the help of the faithful wind sister Ailah, searches for the great wizard to warn him.

Faerie continues T.A. Barron’s most thrilling adventures, featuring a new and unforgettable character in his earliest years, live in voice.

WEDNESDAY, February 21st at 7pm: HOW TO LOOK GOOD AT FORTY...

This essay showed up online and deserves to be read aloud. So Aoife will.

It is laugh-out-loud funny but also, we admit, just slightly angry. OK, possibly very angry, but in a funny way. You will like this essay if you, as a woman, or anyone who actually likes women, have no more f**ks to give. Aoife will be wearing a boilersuit.

TUESDAY, February 20th at 7pm: MERLIN'S DRAGON Begins

Long ago, at the dawn of Merlin’s world, a strange little creature named Basil appeared. Part lizard, part bat, his eyes glow with a mysterious light.

When Basil discovers a threat to his world and to Merlin, he begins an epic journey that takes him from the Great Tree of Avalon to the outermost edges of the spirit realm. But his boldest journey will be to face his own deepest fears. And only if he survives can he save Merlin – and find his future.

This is one of T.A. Barron’s most thrilling adventures and featuring an unforgettable character in his earliest years.

Faerie Maven-Pralou begins the adventure tonight, live in voice.

WEDNESDAY, February 14th at 7pm: Selections from NIGHT CIRCUS

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Caledonia presents selections from Celia and Marco's journey today, from Erin Morgenstern's best-selling NIGHT CIRCUS. This is a teaser for Seanchai's collaborative contribution to the Guerilla Burlesque's Le Cirque Nuit production later this Spring.

WEDNESDAY, February 7th at 7pm: CORWYN PRESENTS, or Else!

It sounds like a threat, but it isn't really, . . . not much anyway.

TUESDAY, February 6th at 7pm: More from TWENTY ONE BALLOONS

Who would have thought it?  A "Restaurant Government" on the island of Krakatoa. It is so international, so alphabetical, and so egalitarian.  Almost too good to be true.

Well, you about things that seem too good to be true, especially things in books?  Professor William Waterman Sherman had better beware.  Things might just be heating up on the island, very soon!
