Sinbad is a fictional mariner and the hero of a story-cycle of
Middle Eastern origin. He is described as hailing from Baghdad during the early Abbasid Caliphate
(8th and 9th centuries CE). In the course of seven voyages throughout the seas
east of Africa and south of Asia , he has
fantastic adventures in magical realms, encountering monsters and witnessing
supernatural phenomena.
Typically ascribed to the Thousand and One stories of Scheherazade, this story was actually one of several popular tales that was added to the first English translation of the folklore canon published c 1706.
Caledonia Skytower reads from the 1909 "The Arabian Nights: Their Best-Known Tales" edited by Kate Douglas Wiggin and Nora A Smith, and famously illustrated by Maxfield Parrish., live in voice.
