Holmes is bored.  Watson is bored.  Then an answer to their prayers - Scotland Yard needs help!

Miss Susan Cushing of Croydon receives a parcel in the post that contains two severed human ears packed in coarse salt. Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard suspects a prank by three medical students whom Miss Cushing was forced to evict because of their unruly behaviour.  Holmes suspects a much darker, much more passionate crime has occurred. Hang on to your ears!

TUESDAY, February 18th at 7PM: THE WORDS OF WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS w/ Crap Mariner

William S. Burroughs  was an American novelist, short story writer, essayist, painter, and spoken word performer. A primary figure of the Beat Generation and a major postmodernist author, he is considered to be "one of the most politically trenchant, culturally influential, and innovative artists of the 20th century". His influence is considered to have affected a range of popular culture as well as literature. Burroughs wrote 18 novels and novellas, six collections of short stories and four collections of essays. Five books have been published of his interviews and correspondences. He also collaborated on projects and recordings with numerous performers and musicians, and made many appearances in films.

Tonight, Crap Mariner shares selections from this memorable man's works, live in voice.

 Mrs. Warren, a landlady, comes to 221B Baker Street with some questions about her lodger. A youngish, heavily bearded man, who spoke good but accented English came to her and offered double her usual rent on the condition that he get the room on his own terms. He went out the first night that he was there, and came back after midnight when the rest of the household had gone to bed. Since then, neither Mrs. Warren, her husband, or their servant girl have seen him, and odd things are starting to happen.

Holmes and Dr. Watson go to Esher to see Wisteria Lodge with Inspector Baynes. Holmes has deduced that the murderer lives near Wisteria Lodge, and in a big house.  He begins to reconnoiter the local candidates and finds one of interest, the Henderson household, whose master has obviously spent time in the tropics, and whose servant is a dark-skinned foreigner. Henderson’s two girls have an English governess named Burnet. Holmes also learns from a sacked gardener that Henderson is rich, and scared of something, although no-one can say what. Nor can anyone say where he came from.

A new original story from Dubhna Rhiadra.  A village in the middle of the forest is plagued by a mysterious illness for which no cure can be found. Egg, the least of the Villagers, sets off to find the cure when her own mother goes down with the sickness.On one level a simple tale of adventure and magic, but Peapod warrior encompasses complex themes about finding one’s own power and the validity of self-sacrifice.

Back to London for Mary and Holmes, to face  their adversary, now frustrated in their absence.  Holmes and Mary must each play a part, fully and precisely, in order to capture their clever opponent.

Caledonia continues with "Book Four: Mastery" from the Mary Russell - Sherlock Holmes Mystery Series THE BEEKEEPER'S APPRENTICE by Author Laurie R. King.  The Game is a foot  as Mary and The Great Detective pursue this first "full-partner" case together.

A caver, lost when exiting the cave he was exploring gets some very unexpected help surviving in a subtly changed Florida.  The "help" finds the caver just as unexpected.

Corwyn, Kayden, and Caledonia begin the first story of eight collectively titled HIS LAST BOW: Some Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes.

TODAY:  Part 1 of "The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge."
Holmes is visited by a perturbed proper English gentleman, John Scott Eccles, who wishes to discuss something “grotesque”. No sooner has he arrived at 221B Baker Street than Inspector Gregson also shows up, along with Inspector Baynes of the Surrey Constabulary. They wish a statement from Eccles about the murder near Esher last night. A note in the dead man’s pocket indicates that Eccles said that he would be at the victim’s house that night. The Game is a foot!
