"Tales of Alaska's Big Bears" features as-told-to tales collected by Jim Rearden, allowing us to vicariously experience frightening and fantastic first person encounters! Rearden is well known in Alaska, having been a university professor, a biologist with the AK Dept of Fish and Game, editor for Alaska magazine and field editor for Outdoor magazine. When we left Nim, she had escaped from an erupting volcano (albeit with a badly scraped knee) and also from the tacky, crass Troppo Tourists. Her father is still not home, and circumstances seem to be crowding in on Nim - all alone on the island but for her animals friends.
