THURSDAY June 11 @ 7pm - Shandon Loring and Leprechaun Stories and New Exhibit Opening!

Join Shandon for two great stories of leprechauns, the fascinating 'wee folk' of Ireland. We will open our new exhibit on leprechauns during this session, so you will be able to learn more about these fascinating creatures.

THE LEPRECHAUN OF ARDMORE TOWER:The Leprechaun--that flash from elf-land--was perched comfortably upon the west window ledge, high up in Ardmore Tower. He is only six inches high, and harder to catch than a will-o'-the-wisp; if one ever could succeed in catching him!

THE FAIRY FINDER (the red leprechaun) The crone of every village has plenty of stories to make her hearers wonder how fortunes have been arrived at by extraordinary short outs; and as it has been laid down as an axiom, "That there never was a fool who had not a greater fool to admire him," so there never was an old woman who told such stories without plenty of listeners.

MONDAY, June 8 at 7pm: "The Tale of Despereaux" concludes

When last we left our hero he had embraced his quest to save the Princess Pea, and had just had some soup too! We pick up just prior to where we left off last week ('cause who wouldn't enjoy that chapter on soup again?) and accompany Despereaux in to the "deep downs" of the castle dungeon. What will happen there? Will he save the Princess? Will Roscuro get the revenge he seeks? What will become of Miggery Sow? And we've not seen the last of Botticelli Remorso either. Come and find out how it all turns out, and enjoy a few other choice "bonus features" penned by author Kate DiCamillo as well.

WEDNESDAY, 3 June @ 7pm The Time Machine with Lilia Quinnell

H.G.Wells had been subjected to the cruelty of class prejudices of his day. He saw what we would call a glass ceiling being placed over his hopes and dreams, regardless of his level of talent.
In The Time Machine Wells creates two sub-species of the future and calling them the Eloi and the Morlocks, and found a voice for his feelings about the extent of the unadmitted prejudice in England and what this was doing to people. He did not romanticize either the upper classes, the Eloi, or the lower classes, the Morlocks. He simply showed them slowly moving away from each other and becoming two ENTIRELY different species. There is a sadness about all this.
Though Wells doesn't preach, there is a sadness in the story.Join Storyteller Lilia Quinnell for Wells' classic examination of the dangers and possibilities of the future. Read live in Voice.
