SUNDAY, September 29th at 1:30pm: TEA TIME with Lost Words

*LOST WORDS - Spells and Songs* with Elrik Merlin & Caledonia Skytower

Award-winning author Robert Macfarlane and acclaimed artist & author Jackie Morris created something wonderful and unique in their 2017 book. "The Lost Words" is a ‘book of spells’ that seeks to conjure back the near-lost magic and strangeness of the nature that surrounds us. It transcends age barriers inspiring children and moving adults with its wide appeal. This past July eight leading folk musicians released their response to the creatures, art, and language of Macfarlane & Morris' book.

Rik and Cale will summon a special blending of the music and spells of "The Lost Words," LIVE at The Glen, on Stream.

WEDNESDAY, September 26th at 7PM: THE SPOOKY CLASSICS ~ Charles Dickens

Description:Caledonia presents ghostly stories from some of the classics of the genre. Each week features a different author associated with tales of the macabre or gothic.

THIS WEEK: Charles Dickens

When we think of Mr. Dickens, we think of his holiday tales, and his stories featuring the plight of children and the underclass. But The Boz was a great proponent of ghost stories. We might have gathered that from A Christmas Carol. Tonight Cale presents two stories from Dickens' early works, including The Ghosts of the Mail.

TUESDAY, September 24th at 7pm: ANNE OF GREEN GABLES Continues

Image from the popular CBC television production starring Meghan Followes
“There's such a lot of different Annes in me. I sometimes think that is why I'm such a troublesome person. If I was just the one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable, but then it wouldn't be half so interesting.”

“People laugh at me because I use big words. But if you have big ideas, you have to use big words to express them, haven't you?”

“Life is worth living as long as there's a laugh in it.”
― Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Faerie Maven-Pralou continues reading Lucy Maude Montgomery's beloved classic of the irrepressible orphan, and the stoic spinster brother and sister who become her family on Prince Edward Island, CA.

"Before The Black Pearl..."
YOUNG JACK SPARROW
The Siren Song pt2

Captain Jack Sparrow's ship, the Barnacle, and its up-till-now unshakable crew have suddenly fallen under a sinister spell. While continuing on their quest for the storied Sword of Cortés, the crew suddenly finds itself entranced by an ethereal song. As a result, each of them attempts to take the Barnacle in a different direction—and away from the Sword’s supposed location. WEDNESDAY, September 18th at 7pm: TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE PIRATE DAY!

In one of the many Seanchai Library traditions, it is that time again. As we crack open the door to the High Story Season, we begin with a fanciful embrace of the buccaneer mythos - PIRATES! Thursday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, after all!

"Pirates are hearty
They’re bluff and they’re loud
They’ll always have fun
On their own or in crowds

"Some have an eye patch
And some have a hook
In place of the hand
That a crocodile took

"They’re usually friendly
Despite all your fears
But if you should cross them
They’ll cut off your ears . . ."

Tonight we share everything from the sublime to the ridiculous. Everything from the madcap George the Pirate Stories, to a selection from Rafael Sabbatini's Captain Blood, to The Flying Dutchman.

R. Crap Mariner, Corwyn Allen, Da5id Abbot, Zander Greene, and Caledonia Skytower, live in Voice at The Pirate Cove.

TUESDAY, September 17th at 7pm: PEBBLES LIKE POEMS, LIKE JAZZ

Cale: "Have we done 'Pebbles' at Seanchai?"
Kt: "No. Wanna try an experiment?"
Cale: "Let's do it!"

They are beautiful little things, scattered along the beach. How to see inside a mountain? Look at a pebble. They come in many colors, shapes, sizes, textures. I started picking them up for a friend who is a painter, then for myself. I took close-up photographs of them to show detail. The macro lens sees better than my aging eyes.

The first new poem I wrote after a 20-year hiatus was "A Pebble." Pebbles have since been a part of many other poems. They are jazz notes on the beach, improvised by tide and current, each 12-hour peak a new arrangement. They inspire me: enduring beauty.
--Ktahdn Vesuvino  2019 September 15

"Pebbles like Poems like Jazz"
Original poems in a jazz milieu, with large-format slides as visual accompaniment (musical introduction starting about 20 minutes before) live on stream in The Glen.

WEDNESDAY, September 11th at 7pm: ANNE OF GREEN GABLES Continues

Image from one of the many films, starring Meghan Followes
Well, that was a surprise!  The Cuthbert's were expecting a boy to foster, and Anne Shirley is most
assuredly not that.  The story continues tonight as the slow process of bonding begins between the spinster brother and sister, and the enthusiastic orphan.

Since its publication in 1908, Anne of Green Gables has sold more than 50 million copies and has been translated into at least 36 languages. The book has been adapted as films, made-for-television movies, and animated and live-action television series. Musicals and plays have also been created, with productions annually in Europe and Japan.

Faerie Maven-Pralou continues Anne's journey tonight - live in voice.
