Special thanks goes to Aoife Lorefield for her support and wonderful Quest.  Dagmar Kohime for the way-super-cool jackets and T-shirts.  Inara Pey for generally letting us do our thing.  Corwyn Allen & Wald Schridde for their delightful music.  Our friends at Radio Riel & Fantasy Faire Radio: Gabi, Elrik, Zander, and friend Ktahdn for joining in. Thank you Dubhna Rhiadra for hosting the final sandbox gathering - such fun!

TUESDAY, March 27th at 7 PM: DOON Begins!

Arruckus – men call it Doon, the dessert planet. It is a sugar covered wasteland entirely devoid of entrees, patrolled by a terrifying species of giant pretzel. This savage world is the setting for an apocalyptic drama between the evil Baron Hardchargin, and young Pall Agamemnides. These forces clash over Doon’s one precious resource, a substance found nowhere else in the Universe: the mind-altering liquid know as beer…

Corwyn guides us through this hilarious epic National Lampoon parody  of Frank Herbert's sci-fi adventure, Live in voice.

MONDAY, March 26th at 7PM: FROST & FIRE

The runner up in the recent poll nominating "Science Fiction By Command" for the just completed Volume 10 celebration, Gyro presents Ray Bradbury's 1946 classic.

Placed there by a past rocket ship that crashed, the people of the storied land are within sight of another rocket ship on a distant mountain plateau. The plot follows Sim, the protagonist of this story, and his apparently short life on a planet where people are cursed by radiation to live only eight days.

The people of this planet are also gifted with racial memory (they remember their ancestors' memories). However, they do not attempt to reach the sole remaining rocket ship due to the futility of attempting to reach it in one hour, which is the longest length of time between day and night (both deadly).

Sim is then moved by the memory of his ancestors to find and meet with scientists who make halting progress towards the goal of lengthening the world's decreased life span. Sim, motivated by his dwindling days, makes it his goal to extend his life and reach the distant rocket, despite the protests of his sister and other cave-dwellers.

FINAL WEEKEND - VOLUME 10: Celebrating a Decade of Seanchai Library

As VOLUME 10 draws to its conclusion - full of great events, new friends made, old friends joyfully reunited - Seanchai Library invites you to two events for our finale weekend.

Saturday, March 24th
   @ 2pm: War of the Worlds at Holly Kai Park's Art Hill.

    The Martians have landed!  But no one believes the incredible, unbelievable truth - that there's life out there beyond our atmosphere, and that it might not be so very friendly.  Join Bear Silvershade, Caledonia Skytower, Derry McMahon, Aoife Lorefield, Zander Greene, Kayden Oconnell, and Shandon Loring for this Sci-Fi treat, first read by Seanchai Library in 2009.

Sunday, March 25th
    @1pm: The Storyteller's Sandbox hosted by Dubhna Rhiadra, at Ceiliúradh Glen.

Seanchai Library has always been about more than just what happens on our home parcel.  Over our ten year history we have continually made connections, provided opportunities and resources to the greater spoken word community.  We've invited some of our friends from across the grid to join us for one final Volume 10 gathering around the fire, to share stories and poems.

Take a stroll through A Decade of Seanchai Library, a retrospective wander from our beginnings in the West of Ireland, through our years with the Community Virtual Library, our expansion to the Kitely Grid, to the present time.  Images, artifacts, media links all come together to share the story of telling stories.  This exhibit will remain open through the end of the month, so there's still time to walk through the caverns and tunnels of a decade.

AND the Volume 10 Quest will also stay up through the end of March.  There's still goodies to find and surprises to be found by exploring the clues of this light-hearted, fun adventure.  Find instructions at the Seanchai Library main landing point and let your quest begin.

THURSDAY March 22nd at 7pm: THE ARCHITECT OF NEWGRANGE - pt2

"Before Stonehenge. Before the Pyramids."
NEWGRANGE
In the winter of 1951, a storyteller, the last practitioner of an honored, centuries-old tradition, arrives at the home of nine-year-old Ronan O'Mara in the Irish countryside with a tale of the most brilliant Irishman of all time. He was the architect of Newgrange—but, as all stories should, this one begins before its own beginning. And that was a long, long time ago, before there was ever a place called Newgrange, before there was ever an architect to build its famous work, even before there was a country called Ireland...

WEDNESDAY, March 21st at 6:30pm: Dracula!

Seanchai Library reprises it's popular presentation of DRACULA (2008 & 2010), adapted from Bram Stoker's classic novel, granting generous permission to the Library for its anniversary celebration.

Dracula is an 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker. It introduced Count Dracula, and established many conventions of subsequent vampire fantasy.  The novel tells the story of Dracula's attempt to move from Transylvania to England so that he may find new blood and spread the undead curse, and of the battle between Dracula and a small group of men and a woman led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing.

Shandon Loring, Derry McMahon, Bear Silvershade, Corwyn Allen, Marian Dragovar, Aoife Lorefield, Faerie Maven-Pralou, Kayden Oconnell and Caledonia Skytower, live in voice.

NOTE THE TIME... 6:30 PM SLT

Tuesday, March 20th at 7pm: VOLUME 10: Stories-Go-Round

Grab a brass ring and hang on as the Seanchai staff take you on a whirling ride through tales of
various kinds, stopping in with a certain Pirate named "George."

This is our traditional-style celebration, five storytellers, no waiting.  Well, maybe a little waiting, but PLENTY of popcorn.  Come along for the ride! Kayden Oconnell, Corwyn Allen, Derry McMahon, R. Crap Mariner, and Faerie Maven-Pralou,  live in voice.

WEDNESDAY, March 14th at 7pm: THE QUIET MAN

A Seanchai traditional favorite, Caledonia presents Maurice Walsh's THE QUIET MAN.

Sean Kelvin comes home to Ireland from his sojourn to the "land of opportunity."  All Sean wants is  peace, and a roof he can call his own - such a contrast to his life in America.  But soon enough Sean's dearly acquired peace is shattered  . . .  he falls in love with Ellen O'Grady, sister to a local landowner and his chief antagonist.

Walsh's 1933 story was fashioned, after 10 years of effort, into an Academy-Award winning feature film starring John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, and Victor McLaughlin.

TUESDAY, March 6th at 7pm: IRISH POETS & WONDERS

Caledonia Skytower shares selections from D. R. McAnally's compendium of late 18th Century Irish Lore, punctuated with selected Irish poems.

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee;
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
~ W. B. Yeats.
