MONDAY, July 30th at 7pm: Part 4 ~ THE CORPSE WORE TARTAN

Phil MacMillan is dead and the list of people with reason to dislike him from among the folks trapped by a snowstorm in The Spruces Hotel is as brimming as the Scottish Highlands are full of heather.  But dislike the man enough to kill him?  Or is there another possible motive?  Who stood to gain, who had the means?

Follow Liss MacCrimmon and her friends as they thaw out this chilling murder, to see what guilty party is revealed once the snows have cleared.

Presented live in voice from Kaitlynn Dunnett's Liss MacCrimmon Scottish Mystery Series.

She is engaged to a quiet Londoner who has recently disappeared. Though Dr. Watson seems puzzled by these events, Holmes classically assures him that it it is quite "elementary."

WEDNESDAY, July 25th at 7:00pm: C.S. Lewis' BOXEN (Selections)

Half a century before The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis created another imaginary world.  The tales of "Animal Land," which eight-year old Jack (as his family knew him) had shared with his brother Warnie, soon developed into the Chronicles of the kingdom of "Boxen."  In a succession of stories over the next few years, the young Lewis explored its history, geography, and the colorful exploits of its inhabitants in vivid detail, finally concluding with his Encyclopedia Boxomania in April 1928.

Tonight, Caledonia presents selections from this early work from the fertile imagination of C.S. Lewis.

Presented live in Voice.

TUESDAY 24 July at 7pm: Summer Chick Lit: Girls on Vacation!

MONDAY, July 23rd @ 7pm: Part 3 ~ THE CORPSE WORE TARTAN

"He's Dead!...There's a dead guy in the Number Two Storage Room!" Great!  Just great!  It's not enough that someone stole a brooch from the surly MacMillan's.  It's not enough that it is snowing and storming outside, trees are down and The Spruces Hotel in Moosetookalook, Maine is running in generator power, blazing fireplaces, and a whole lot of free hospitality.

Now there's a dead guy too. The plot and the snow continue to thicken!

More from Kaitlyn Dunnett's Liss MacCrimmon Scottish Mystery Series.  Presented live in voice.

SUNDAY, July 22 at 2pm: TEA TIME AT BAKER STREET

Sherlock Holmes Tea Pot available at http://www.english-teapots.com/
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of twelve stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, featuring his famous detective.  These are the first of the Sherlock Holmes short stories, originally published as single stories in the Strand Magazine from July 1891 to June 1892. The book was published in England on 14 October 1892 by George Newnes Ltd and in a US Edition on 15 October by Harper. The initial combined print run was 14,500 copies.

Caledonia begins our tea time on Baker Street with The Adventure of the Red-Headed League:  Jabez Williams takes a night job as a clerk, hired because fo the color fo his hair. It leads to the mysterious office of the Red-Headed League, which suddenly closes overnight.  Holmes and Watson are on the case, determined to solve it over a mere weekend, suspecting rightly that it leads to something greater than what it seems.

Thursday July 19th at 7pm: MIRRORS & SMOKE with Shandon Loring

Imaginative twists on old legends and frightening glimpses into the impossible combine to form tonight's stories and poems from Neil Gaiman. Each skirts the edges of a puncture in reality through which something dark and mysterious peeks. Then it moves on and the apparition is hidden away again, but not forgotten.

WEDNESDAY, July 11th @ 7pm: "Fog Magic" by Julia L. Sauer, Part 2 With Gina Pralou-Maven

Greta had always loved the fog - the soft gray mist that rolled in from the sea and drifted over the village. The fog seemed to have a secret to tell her. Then one day when Greta was walking in the woods and the mist was closing in, she saw the dark outline of a stone house against the sprice trees - a house where only an old cellar hole should have been. Another time, Greta saw a surrey come by, carrying a lady dressed in plum-colored silk. The woman beckoned for Greta to join her, and soon Greta found herself launched on an adventure that would take her back to a past that existed only through the magic of the fog. Part 2, story in voice.

The Bicentennial Man: July 17, 7 p.m.

The Bicentennial Man

Andrew seems to be just another NDR domestic robot created by U.S. Robots and Mechanical Men. Purchased  by the Martin family and given his name, he serves them faithfully for generations; but Andrew isn't like his countless brothers...

Isaac Asimov's Bicentennial Man was written in 1976 as part of a project to celebrate the U.S. bicentennial. The project never materialized, but Asimov’s novella went winning the prestigious Hugo award the same year, and later served as the basis for a 1993 novel, The Positronic Man (written with Robert Silverberg) and a 1999 movie, The Bicentennial Man, starring Robin Williams.

Presented by Bear Silvershade, starting at 7 p.m. SLT in Seanchai Library.

MONDAY, July 16th at 7pm: Part 2 ~ THE CORPSE WORE TARTAN

Nobody appreciates, like Liss MacCrimmon, how "Unruly" a gathering of Scots can be.  If it wasn't the prickly, variously truculent members of the Scottish Heritage Appreciation Society, its stolen brooches, and maybe more!

Liss and her friends continue to diligently weather the coming storm, while the air of intrigue gathering around them is as thick as the scent of haggis gone bad -- and that's pretty dang think!  Join Caledonia for more mysteries in plaid as the snowfall thickens, and so does the plot, at The Spruces in Moosetookalook, Maine.

MONDAY, July 9th @ 7PM: Part ~ THE CORPSE WORE TARTAN

Can there be such a thing as too many men in kilts? Normally Liss MacCrimmon, proprietor of Moosetookalook, Maine's one and only Scottish Emporium, would say no. But that's before one of them turns out to be murderous.

The bagpipes are blaring at The Spruces, Moosetookalook's finest hotel, reopened just in time to host the Burns Night Supper, an annual celebration of Scotland's beloved poet, Robert Burns. In the midst of the long Maine winter, the festivities are just the thing to give the hotel a much needed boost - and to bring fresh business to Liss' shop. But when the Scottish Heritage Appreciation Society arrives on the scene, they bring more than a hunger for haggis and a passion for plaid. Then a fierce blizzard hits, trapping everyone - angry Scotsmen, hapless hotel staff, and Liss herself - inside ...

TUESDAY 3 July at 7pm: Tales of Merlin & Arthur with Derry

More tales of Merlin the Enchanter from "The Hollow Hills" by Mary Stewart.  Tonight, the birth of Arthur, and the machinations Merlin goes through to keep the lad (and his parentage) hidden until it is time for him to be presented to the public as the rightful heir of Uther Pendragon.  Stories in voice.

MONDAY, July 2 @ 7:00pm: The Letters of John and Abigail Adams

They have been called many things: she a singular woman of inteligence and wit, he an irrascible zealot for independency, the original power couple.  In fifty-four years of married life, they were all of those things and none of them at the same time.

Tonight, Shandon and Cale read selections from their letters dating from 1762 to 1776.  They penned an amazing body of correspondence which is available online through the Massachusetts Historical Society.  Through their own words, though 200+ years old, we learn that they were steadfast, passionate people: passionate about their country, their family, and about each other.  Share a few moments out of United States' history with two lovers of life and of liberty.

Presented live in voice.
