We enter our final event day for THE DICKENS PROJECT SL - 2016

Dickens' contemporary, William Makepeace Thackeray, was as scathing a critic as ever walked the street of London, once said of A Christmas Carol, "Who can listen to objections to such a book as this? It seems to me a national benefit, and to every man or woman who reads it, a personal kindness."

@ 11am - Traditional Dances and Music with Wald Schridde, 17th and 18thC tunes played in traditional instruments, live in Christmas Present Square. COME EARLY in case the Raglan Shire Tiny Carolers make one final, triumphant Wootmas appearance!

@ NOON: THE BIG READ: "A Christmas Carol" - All the words of every stave presented all at once by a cast of voices, presenting in relay. Est 3.5 hours. Live in Christmas Present Square.

The build will be open to the public through the end of the virtual day Tuesday.

SATURDAY, December 17th at 1pm: FEZZIWIG'S BALL

Come and join us at the Christmas Past Dock for Fezziwig's Ball, featuring DJ Dano Bookmite!

But the great effect of the evening came after the Roast and Boiled, when the fiddler (an artful dog, mind! The sort of man who knew his business better than you or I could have told it him!) struck up 'Sir Roger de Coverley.' Then old Fezziwig stood
out to dance with Mrs. Fezziwig. Top couple, too; with a good stiff piece of work cut out for them; three or four and twenty pair of partners; people who were not to be trifled with; people who would dance, and had no notion of walking.

Period dress is encouraged but not required. Just come along and dance like its 1843, or earlier!

The Dickens Project SL benefits Team Diabetes of SL
and is Co-Sponsored by Kultivate Magazine

TUESDAY, December 13th at 7pm: THE DICKENS PROJECT "The First of Three Spirits"

We continue our walk in the steps of Ebenezer Scrooge, following him into the past. Today we continue with Stave Two: The First of Three Spirits.

"At sight of an old gentleman in a Welsh wig, sitting behind such a high desk, that if he had been two inches taller, he must have knocked his head against the ceiling, Scrooge cried in great excitement--

"'Why, it's old Fezziwig! Bless his heart, it's Fezziwig alive again!'"

Two opportunities to hear these classic words:
  • @ 2pm slt - Bryn Taleweaver & Caledonia Skytower present
  • @ 7pm slt - Corwyn Allen & Faerie Maven-Pralou present

Live in voice at The Dickens Project SL
