TUESDAY December 5th at 7pm: THE ICE DRAGON @ Poe Castle

"Winter Is Coming"
THE ICE DRAGON

In George R.R. Martin's world of A Song of Ice and Fire the ice dragon was a creature of legend and fear, for no man had ever tamed one. When it flew overhead, it left in its wake desolate cold and frozen land. But Adara was not afraid. For Adara was a winter child, born during the worst freeze that anyone, even the Old Ones, could remember.

Book: The Ice Dragon Author: George R. R. Martin

Adara could not remember the first time she had seen the ice dragon. It seemed that it had always been in her life, glimpsed from afar as she played in the frigid snow long after the other children had fled the cold. In her fourth year she touched it, and in her fifth year she rode upon its broad, chilled back for the first time. Then, in her seventh year, on a calm summer day, fiery dragons from the North swooped down upon the peaceful farm that was Adara's home. And only a winter child—and the ice dragon who loved her—could save her world from utter destruction.

THURSDAY November 23rd at 10am: ALICES RESTAURANT MASSACREE

ALICE'S RESTAURANT MASSACREE
The song is one of Arlo Guthrie's most prominent works, based on a true incident from his life that began on Thanksgiving Day 1965 with a citation for littering, and ended with the refusal of the U.S. Army to draft him because of his conviction for that crime. The ironic punch line of the story is that, in the words of Guthrie, "I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench 'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough to join the Army - burn women, kids, houses and villages - after bein' a litterbug." The final part of the song is an encouragement for the listeners to sing along, to resist the draft, and to end war.

The "song" is in fact a spoken monologue, presented by Shandon Loring today for your listening pleasure or just to groan at and be Thankful when it's over.

TUESDAY, October 10th @ 7pm slt: "The Halloween Tree" Begins

THE HALLOWEEN TREE
by Ray Bradbury

"And it was the afternoon of Halloween.

And all the houses shut against a cool wind.

And the town full of cold sunlight.

But suddenly, the day was gone.

Night came out from under each tree and spread."

SUNDAY, October 8th @ 1:30pm slt: "Something Bradbury . . . "

The Bradbury Project is open, and it is time for the first story.

Join Caledonia as she presents a chilling tale from Bradbury's collection "Dandelion Wine."  Lavinia Nebbs is determined that not even the discovery of a murder, and the knowledge that the killer (a serial killer, as it happens) is still on the loose will upset or inconvenience her in any way.

None the less, "The Lonely One" is still abroad and might just be a little too close for safety - even for Lavinia Nebbs.

Caledonia Skytower presents, live on stream, on the Town Level of The Bradbury Project.
