@ 2PM - A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES ~ Encore
Aoife Lorefield presents an encore reading, with special musical guest, Grace McDunnough.

"Years and years ago, when I was a boy, when there were wolves in Wales, and birds the color of red-flannel petticoats whisked past the harp-shaped hills..." Aoife reads this favorite Christmas tale from poet Dylan Thomas. Come experience the wonders of this time through his childhood memories.

SUNDAY, December 8th at The Dickens Project

Three great events to appeal to a variety of virtual holiday explorers:

The Dickens Project welcomes musician Grace McDunnough to Dickens Square today.

@ Noon - The Community Virtual Library hosts the ACRL Virtual World Interest Group Tour of the Resource Center in Voice.

@ 1:30pm - TEA TIME with Charles Dickens in Dickens Square.  Da5id Abbot, Dubhna Rhiadra, and Caledonia Skytower present a selection from David Copperfield.

David Copperfield has a primary theme of growth and the changes that occur on the way to maturity. In addition, Dickens included many aspects of Victorian Era life that he wanted to highlight or wished to change, which were primarily integrated into the story, using satire as one device. The plight of prostitutes and the attitude of middle class society to them, the status of women in marriage, the rigid class structure, are aspects that he highlighted, while the system for handling criminals, the quality of schools, and the employment of children in the fast-spreading factories of the 19th century were aspects he wished to influence, to change for the better.

THIS WEEKEND at The Dickens Project

Our first full weekend of events starts out with Idle Rogue Productions opening performance of a show they have created specifically for The Dickens Project.

Friday, December 6th at 10pm slt:
Idle Rogue Productions presents THE MIDNIGHT DINNER. 

An outstanding concept in dance entertainment as story-telling, presenting beloved characters from Dickens and Victoriana. Please enjoy the experience of attending in costume at The Opera House, free clothing is available in the stores at ground level. 

There will be a direct teleport from the Dickens Square landing point. Or teleport directly to The Opera House sky box.  There's one other option, though, that is worth considering. Take the hot air balloon ride from the shores of the skating pond just north of The Square.  In 20 minutes you'll find yourself at the front door of the Opera House.

Seating begins at 9pm, and seats will fill fast for this show.

Saturday, December 7th at 11am slt:

The Community Virtual Library and VCARA present a Dickens Read-Aloud presentation in the Resource Center. There will be a direct teleport from the Dickens Square landing point. The members of VCARA present selections from Dickens' short story canon, live in voice.  Come learn about their work in Second Life!

Sunday, December 8th:
