CONGRATULATIONS! 100w Stories Podcast Celebrating 15 Years!

Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word
story every day until the day he died. He's not dead
yet. Today R. celebrates 15 years to that commitment at TerpsiCorps Artwerks at 5pm slt. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/TerpsiCorps%20Isle/50/171/1800

There are very few people that Seanchai Library has counted as "friend" longer than R. Dismantled.  He has been a supporter, an advocate, and a fellow storyteller from our early days.

"I think he is one of the most unrestrainedly genuine people I know," said Seanchai Library's Caledonia Skytower, "I have seen him over the years be brutally honest, sometimes abrasive when that's what he felt, and I have also experienced his kindness and profound generosity. For a sentient clockwork, he is about as *real* as it's possible to be."

Seanchai Library salutes this incredible accomplishment and the creative soul behind it. "Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for R. not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled.  And no, he NEVER has opinions!"

WEDNESDAY, May 29th at 7:00pm: 100w STORY PODCAST 14th Anniversary!

Story writer, story-teller, commentator, raconteur – R. Crap Mariner is all of these, and more.

On May 31st, 2005, after being inspired by both a friend and Woody Allen to write 100-word stories  – or “drabbles” – he created the 100-word Story podcast, promising to write a story a day until the day he dies.

Fourteen years on, Monsieur Mariner is still writing  – and still reading his stories in what is quite probably among the longest-running daily podcast of original material in the world.

Regardless of what the poster image looks like, he's not dead yet (and we are VERY glad of that!).

Seanchai Library is delighted to host the 14th anniversary of the 100-word story podcast, for one of our oldest friends on the grid. R. Crap read from his stories, which will cover a wide range of topics, just like his podcasts. There might even be a George the Pirate story or two.

R. Crap Mariner, still  alive, in Voice.

Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for Crap not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled. Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet. And no, he NEVER has opinions! http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/

MONDAY, March 28th at 7pm: 100 WORDS AT A TIME with Crap Mariner

Long ago, Mr Mariner swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet. It's been well over a decade, and we are pretty sure he really means it.

Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for Crap not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled.  And no, he NEVER has opinions! But Crap can surprise you as well.  Just when you think it is all quips and sarcasm, he zaps you to your knees with a moment of profound feeling and insight, leaving you breathless.

Check out his work at http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/
He joins us tonight, live in voice.

MONDAY, December 16th at 7PM: VIEWS OF CHRISTMAS IN 100 WORDS

We know it looks like this now, but . . .
What would the holiday season be without a few sleighs on fire?  It would be a holiday without the wry, and sometimes slightly bent insights of Crap Mariner!  Where would the fun be in that?  He keeps us honest!
. . . what will it look like once Crap's done?

He made a vow ... 100 words a day until the day he died - INCLUDING holidays!  He's not dead yet.  Come and enjoy an hour of Crap Mariner viewing the holidays from every ludicrous view, banging them on his desk, and standing them back up - slightly rumpled and somewhat recognizable.

Presented live in voice.

TUESDAY, September 17th @ 7PM: A DRABBLE DUET!

Derry and Cale get together to share a dribble of their drabble (100 Word Stories) inspired by photo images and other creative prompts.  Come along and share a refreshing beverage, some cheese, chocolate, and other forgotten food groups.

Live in voice.

WEDNESDAY, May 22nd @7:00pm: CRAP IS BACK!

Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died.  He's not dead yet.

100w stories ("Drabble") are an incredible writing exercise in economy and precision.  Like the poetic form haiku, it forces the writer to be very specific as each word, each syllable counts - literally and figuratively!  Here is Crap's composition from Friday, May 17th (last week)

"Before I ever read Dickens’ Oliver Twist, I saw a tape of the 1969 musical.
I find musicals stupid. People burst into song over the strangest shit. Everybody dances and spins and laughs and leaps.
Did something get in the water supply? A gas leak making everybody loony?
A little chasing, a little murder, and we find Fagin fumbling his wealth into the muck.
Poor guy. Oh well.
Later on, I read the book.
They hanged him?
Dude. Harsh.
I put the book back on the shelf, sigh, and load up the DVD.
Perhaps musicals aren’t so stupid after all."

Sometimes looney, sometimes abrasive, sometime thoughtful, always delightful!  Live in Voice.
