Charles de Lint is one of the best known writers of contemporary fantasy, bringing us worlds of magic and mystery, sorrow and joy, song and story that are *not* in galaxies far, far away or in other, distant worlds ... but right around the corner, down that dark alley, under the foggy streetlight, or slipping out of our computers.
His stories draw on traditional fairy tales, myths and legends from many cultures, folkways, and his own wonderful imagination. Tonight I'll be reading selections from his works ... rather than offering short stories, I'll be dipping into his novels to find examples of his magic and entice you to further forays.
