Sunday is always a big day for literature on the grid, and this Sunday is no exception . . . Join us!

1:30pm TEA TIME at Baker Street

Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard brings Holmes a seemingly trivial problem about a man who shatters plaster busts of Napoleon. One was shattered in Morse Hudson’s shop, and two others, sold by Hudson to a Dr. Barnicot, were smashed after the doctor’s house and branch office had been burgled. Nothing else was taken. In the former case, the bust was taken outside before being broken.

Holmes knows that Lestrade’s theory about a Napoleon-hating lunatic must be wrong. The busts in question all came from the same mold. Why is he breaking them?

MONDAY. April 4th at 7PM : SILENT RUNNING Begins

Featured Book Series #3 begins at Crazy Eights on LEA 9 with Harlan Thompson’s novelization of the 1972 screenplay for Silent Running, by Mike Cimino, Deric Washburn, and Steven Bochco.

Freeman Lowell, one of four crewmen aboard the freighter Valley Forge, is the resident botanist and ecologist who carefully preserves a variety of plants for their eventual return to Earth and the reforestation of the planet. Lowell spends most of his time in the domes, both cultivating the crops and attending to the animal life.

Then, orders come from Earth to jettison and destroy the domes with nuclear charges and return the freighters to commercial service. Orders Lowell’s crew mates are only too happy to follow if it means a return to Earth. Lowell, however, is less than sanguine about this new turn of events.

THIS WEEK: "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton"
Holmes is hired by the débutante Lady Eva Blackwell to retrieve compromising letters from a blackmailer: Milverton, who causes Holmes more revulsion than any of the 50-odd murderers in his career. Milverton is "the king of blackmailers" and he makes his living out of blackmail.

Kayden and Caledonia share stories and poetry written for the exhibition at Holly Kai Park's Art in the Park outdoor gallery which currently features the work of visiting artists Io Bechir, Goodcross, Hana Hoo, Mistero Hifeng and Sisse Singh.
