They have been called many things: she a singular woman of inteligence and wit, he an irrascible zealot for independency, the original power couple. In fifty-four years of married life, they were all of those things and none of them at the same time.
Tonight, Shandon and Cale read selections from their letters dating from 1762 to 1776. They penned an amazing body of correspondence which is available online through the Massachusetts Historical Society. Through their own words, though 200+ years old, we learn that they were steadfast, passionate people: passionate about their country, their family, and about each other. Share a few moments out of United States' history with two lovers of life and of liberty.
Presented live in voice.
