Having a robot in the house is the latest craze, and the Weston family basks in the glory and prestige of owning Robbie, who they put to work as the perfect nanny for their daughter.
But as the fad fades and anti-robot sentiment begins to grow, Gloria’s mother begins to fear not Robbie, but the opinions of the neighbours. Gloria, however, is not going to give up on her loyal robot friend so easily.
First published in Sept. 1940 as Strange Playfellow, Robbie was the first of Isaac Asimov’s positronic robot stories to be published. Story in voice.
