MONDAY, February 21st at 7:00pm: Part I - The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

"Not every thirteen-year-old girl is accused of murder, brought to trial, and found guilty.  But I was just such a girl, and my story is worth relating even if it did happen years ago."  So begins author Avi's 1990 Newbery Honor book about a young girl surviving on the high seas in what should have been a simple crossing of the Atlantic.

It must be almost Spring, because Cale is taking to the high seas again beginning this award-winning book about a girl taking control of her life when it seems all control is lost.  Set against a swashbuckling background of suspicious and salty characters and intrigue, it is easy to forget that the heroine of this book is merely thirteen.
