THURSDAY October 1st at 7pm: TALES OF THE SLAYER - "In every generation there is a chosen one"

"In every generation there is a chosen one"
TALES OF THE SLAYER
In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.

The Slayer has always held an irreverent attitude toward her calling, but ultimately she understands the ramifications of her destiny and is prepared to die to protect the world from Evil. It's an ancient tradition, steeped in lore, mythology, and fateful prophecies. Slayerdom consists of a Council of Watchers, a continuum of slayers, an archive of journals, and even a handbook. But first and foremost, it begins with a girl. One girl in all the world. A Chosen One.

WEDNESDAY, September 30th at 7pm: Even more from THE PRINCESS BRIDE

Pandora's Box has been opened and the people want more! Curse you Frankenstein!

Anyone who lived through the 1980s may find it impossible – perhaps even inconceivable – to equate The Princess Bride with anything other than Rob Reiner’s 1987 film of the same name, adapted for the silver screen by none other than the novel’s author, William Goldman. And yet, there is so much more to the tale.

Join Caledonia Skytower as she continues this charming tale of Buttercup, Westley, Inigo and all over the course of two evenings, live on stream.

TUESDAY, September 29th: Two Great Events in The Glen ~ Music, Poetry, and a Journey

@ NOON: Russell Eponym, Live!

Join Russell's weekly performance at our beautiful outdoor gathering space for an hour of 100% live and unplugged acoustic music and spoken word.  Russell will be presenting original and traditional songs, instrumental pieces and covers, together with some selected poems. Folk Baroque and Beyond.

@ 7pm: What Need Has A Dragon for a Tiger Suit?

Ktahdn Vesuvino shares an original tale: an experience tied to the millennium change 20 years ago, Asian culture, a production company and sand sculpture. It all combined to a conjure an experience that became extraordinary in many ways. 80 minutes - with slides, presented live on stream. Prelude music played before the hour.
Both events today are in The Glen:

THURSDAY, September 24th at 7pm: More of THE PRINCESS BRIDE By Request

Buttercup vowed to never love again. And she never did.

It's three years later, and she's about to be married.  WOT?! Compelled by Prince Humperdinck, ("...you can either marry me and be the richest and most powerful woman in a thousand miles and give out turkeys at Christmas and provide me with a male heir, or you can die in terrible pain in the very near future. Make up your mind.") The plans are in progress, the announcement is made and now, as they say, is when it starts to get interesting. "Inconceivable!" you say?  Well, listen in and find out.

Join Caledonia Skytower as she presents the best, best bits of this charming tale of Buttercup, Westley, Inigo and all over the course of two evenings, live on stream.

WEDNESDAY, September 23rd at 7pm: THE PRINCESS BRIDE By Request

"Is this one of those kissing books?"

Pirates, giants, sword fights, shrieking eels, miracles, true love?  Oh, it's so much more than  a kissing book.

Anyone who lived through the 1980s may find it impossible – perhaps even inconceivable – to equate The Princess Bride with anything other than Rob Reiner’s 1987 film of the same name, adapted for the silver screen by none other than the novel’s author, William Goldman. TUESDAY, September 22nd at 7pm: CELTIC TALES with Willow

Willow Moonfire presents two short stories

In Teig o’Kane and the Corpse we follow the tribulation of a young Irishman who doesn’t want to commit to adulthood – until he finds himself with a talking corpse latched onto his back that demands he finds it a grave by morning, or find the corpse forever on his back.

The Witch of Lok Island tells the tale of Houarn and Bella, a young couple who want but a simple life, with a cow and a pig to rear and a home in which to live. So Houarn sets out to find the means by which they might, only to learn of a beautiful lake-dwelling fairy, and determines to find her and seek her aid. But is her willingness to do so genuine or something else – and might it be that Bella has some magic of her own that might help rescue Houarn from his foolishness?

THURSDAY, September 17th at 7pm: PIRATES!!!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, U.S., who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. An observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello, everyone!" but with "Ahoy, maties!" or "Ahoy, me hearties!" The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy.

Seanchai Library staff and friends gather in anticipation of International Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19th), to share stories of salty sea dogs and high seas hi-jinks.

WEDNESDAY, September 16th at 7pm: "R is for RANDOM"

R. Dismantled presents randomly selected 100 word stories ("Drabble") live on the Story Floor!

Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet. Check out http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/

Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for R. not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled.

AND, as if that weren't enough, he looks *good* in black!

Willow Moonfire reads selections from what is effectively the epilogue of Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea saga.
Ged of Gont reminisces about his life in the comfort of his home as he prepares to pass on. Firelight is a short story full of warmth that brings closure to Earthsea, and also to Le Guin’s own life. Published posthumously, it’s hard not to hear Le Guin’s own voice in Ged’s — saying goodbye along with her beloved character.
