~ 7pm: Thornton Wilder's THE BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY Concludes
Willow Moonfire presents Thorton Wilder’s second, and 1928 Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Influenced in part by Wilder’s own conversations with his deeply religious father, and inspired by Prosper Mérimée’s one-act act play, Le Carrosse du Saint-Sacrement, Thorton described the novel as a means to pose the question, “Is there a direction and meaning in lives beyond the individual’s own will?”

The bridge of the novel’s title and opening is a fictional Inca rope bridge, and its collapse is witnessed by a Franciscan friar, himself about to cross over it. A deeply pious man, Brother Juniper finds his faith challenged by the tragedy, and as a result embarks upon a “mission” to prove that it was divine will rather than chance that led to the deaths of those who fell with the bridge.

SUNDAY, June 28th at 1:30pm slt: TEA TIME with Miss Marple

"The Murder at the Vicarage" continues,
with Episode 2!

A man has been murdered right in the Vicarage study. But who could possibly want to kill Colonel Protheroe?  Turns out there's more suspects than you can count on one hand. This week: the suspects begin to emerge. There's not just one confession, but two!

"‘Anyone who murdered Colonel Protheroe,’ declared the parson, brandishing a carving knife above a joint of roast beef, ‘would be doing the world at large a favour!’ It was a careless remark for a man of the cloth. And one which was to come back and haunt the clergyman just a few hours later – when the colonel was found shot dead in the clergyman’s study. But as Miss Marple soon discovers, the whole village seems to have had a motive to kill Colonel Protheroe."

THURSDAY June 25th at 7pm: COLUMBO - A Killer's Tale

COLUMBO
A Killer's Tale
"Oh, uh.. just one more thing"
Columbo is a shrewd but inelegant blue-collar homicide detective whose trademarks include his rumpled beige raincoat, unassuming demeanor, frequent cigar smoking, an old Peugeot 403, an unseen wife (whom he mentions regularly), and the catchphrase "Just one more thing". His suspects are often affluent members of high society who try to carefully cover their tracks. Initially dismissive of Columbo's circumstantial speech and apparent ineptitude, they become increasingly unsettled as his pestering behavior leads him to tease out incriminating evidence. His relentless approach often leads to self-incrimination or an outright confession by the suspect.

SUNDAY, June 14th at 1:30pm: TEA TIME with Miss Marple ~ "The Murder at The Vicarage" Begins

TEA TIME presents a brand new six week series beginning today, Sunday, June 14th at 1:30 pm slt; the final episode on Sunday, July 19th

Dame Agatha Christie's "The Murder At The Vicarage"

"‘Anyone who murdered Colonel Protheroe,’ declared the parson, brandishing a carving knife above a joint of roast beef, ‘would be doing the world at large a favour!’ It was a careless remark for a man of the cloth. And one which was to come back and haunt the clergyman just a few hours later – when the colonel was found shot dead in the clergyman’s study. Aoife Lorefield, Da5id Abbot, Caledonia Skytower, Corwyn Allen, Gloriana Maertens, Kayden Oconnell, Willow Moonfire, live.

The Murder at the Vicarage is the first novel to feature the character of Miss Marple and her village of St Mary Mead. This first look at St Mary Mead led a reviewer in 1990 to ask why these are called cosy mysteries: "Our first glimpse of St Mary Mead, a hotbed of burglary, impersonation, adultery and ultimately murder. What is it precisely that people find so cosy about such stories?"

Dorothy Gilman's A NUN IN THE CLOSET
Sister John and Sister Hyacinthe were dispatched to give the property mysteriously inhereit by St Tabitha's Abbey the once-over and report back. A simple enough assignment, except neither Sister is entirely prepared to deal with all that they find. This week both sisters are sorely tested as the drama heightens: "new" nuns, new ideas, mysterious corpses, gangsters, and a suspicious number of very large jars all play a role as Dorothy Gilman's A NUN IN THE CLOSET concludes in the Main Library with Caledonia, live on stream.
