One last reminder about Fantasy Faire if you hadn't seen this Drax Files episode before.  As a bit of trivia, once Shandon and Cale saw this, they contacted Zander Greene with an interest in getting the Library involved in doing live story sessions at the Faire.  Other people had the same notion, and the next year, Fantasy Faire Litfest made its Faire Lands debut.  Funny old virtual world, ain't it?

All sessions held at the Seanchai Library in Second Life unless otherwise indicated. Stories in voice. Schedule subject to change, because that is just how life rolls sometimes.

THURSDAY April 27th at 7pm: Monsters and Myth: THE CHIMAERA part two

"...a boy’s aspirations, a king’s cruelty, a poet’s dreams..."
Monsters & Myth: THE CHIMAERA
part 2

The Chimaera – a fire-breathing winged monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. Plaguing the lands of the Middle Sea, this fantastic creature comes into confrontation with the young hero, Bellerophon. The youth proves to be a worthy match, having already succeeded in his conquest of the tyrant king, Melicertes. Bellerophon’s adventures, which reach a climax in his battle with the Chimaera, provide a rich and powerful story of young ambition, evil intention, and poetic desire. The tale of the Chimaera is one of conflicting emotions, and the endless struggle against the demands of fate. It is about a boy’s aspirations, a king’s cruelty, a poet’s dreams, and the capricious nature of the gods – all magnified and illuminated within the turbulent world of myth.

@7PM - A WALK THROUGH MIDDLE EARTH

TUESDAY, April 25th at 7pm: THE MEAD OF POETS

"Do you wonder where poetry comes from? . . . It is a long story, and it does no credit to to anyone: there is murder in it, and trickery, lies, and foolishness, seduction and pursuit.  Listen."

Caledonia shares THE MEAD OF POETS, a story selected from Neil Gaiman's recently released "Norse Mythology", live in voice at Fantasy Faire LitFest 2017.

MONDAY, April 24th at 7pm: A MIRACLE OF SMALL FISHES

We begin the week at Fantasy Faire LitFest 2017, with Gyro and "A Miracle of Small Fishes" by Alan Dean Foster.

Grandfather Flores was old but not too old to keep fishing.  If only there were still fish.  The sardines were all caught before they got as far south as San Quentin.  All Grandfather wanted was just one more good catch.  It would take a miracle.

FRIDAY April 21st at 6pm: REQUIEM - by Robert Heinlein

REQUIEM
by Robert Heinlein

Harriman, a tycoon and latter-day robber baron, had always dreamed of going to the Moon, and had spent much of his career and resources making space flight a practical commercial enterprise. Unfortunately, his business partners prevented him from taking the early flights because they could not risk the public face of their company. Now an old man, Harriman has still not been to the Moon, a fact that frustrates him, since he lives in a world where space travel is so commonplace that carnivals have their own barnstorming spacecraft. Although no longer bound by his contractual obligations, he is now too old to pass the medical examination needed for space travel.
