WEDNESDAY, September 28th at 7PM: "IN THE MIST" 2016

In 2012, Caledonia wrote one of her very first spooky stories: "In The Mist" where a young woman , upset by her boyfriends public flirtations with a tourist, runs off into a misty Irish Autumn night.  What could be lurking out there, just waiting out there for someone vulnerable, like Daimhin.

This story was published in 2013's "Trio of Irish Tales" and it has recently been updated for a machinima production.  Cale reads through the revised version of the story, tonight.

Live in voice.

TUESDAY, September 27th at 7pm: Selections from OUTLANDER

Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series started by accident when she decided to sit down and writer a novel “for practice” in the late 1980s, and to learn what is required to write a good book and whether she had the capacity to become a writer.  Published in 1991 as Cross Stitch in the UK and Outlander in North America, that first “practice” novel went on to spawn an entire set of novels – and a television series as well
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.

Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
Caledonia Skytower reads selections from Outlander, which will also be the subject of a Book Discussion at Community Virtual Library central, at 5:30 slt on Wednesday, September 28th.

MONDAY September 26th at 7pm: A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING TEXAS part two

A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING TEXAS
- by Fritz Leiber -
In the future, the country of Texas rules most of North America and uses those of Mexican descent as slaves.  To this land of chemically enhanced 8 foot tall Texans comes an equally tall man born in the weightlessness of a Lunar space station.  Our hero is also 8 feet tall, and weighs an awesome 97 pounds, not counting his powered exoskeleton.  In his naivety of Earth politics, he inadvertently becomes the rallying point for a revolution.
Very mildly ribald, with slight racial slurs.   Lots of action, drama and humor.

at SEANCHAI LIBRARY in SECOND LIFE

Ah!  Elementary, friends.  You know his methods. Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. That can only mean that Holmes is about to return!  Join us at the 221B Lounge and see how, and why?  The game is, indeed, a foot!

LIVE FROM THE GRAVEYARD
Edgar Allan Poe

In preparation for the upcoming spooky season, the folks at the Seanchai Library are going to try a Real Life meets Virtual Worlds experiment. This Friday night, September 23rd, one of their professional storytellers, Mr. Shandon Loring, will be presenting several selections from Edgar Allan Poe – and the intriguing part is he will actually be presenting from a real 1800’s graveyard, sitting amongst the gravestones with a RL audience, using portable and wireless technology.

Who knows what unexpected surprises might happen!

Please join us for this curious presentation of not-to-be-forgotten lore presented in Living Voice

Please note this is an experimental presentation subject to vagaries of a place called the Real World.. and possibly the next world as well!

TUESDAY, September 20th at 7pm: The Conclusion of THE OLD COUNTRY

Faerie Maven-Pralou concludes a reading of Mordecai Gerstein‘s 2005 novel of shape-shifting, magic, war, and discovery.

“So this is what it’s like to have fingers,” the girl laughed, and pointed the bow at Gisella. “How does the world look from the other side of the crossbow?”
And so it is that Gisella learns the truth in the warning never look too long into the eyes of a foxas she finds herself trapped in the fox’s body, as the fox makes off with her own. But such is the way of things in the Old Country, where “all the fairy tales come from, where there was magic – and there was war.”
Now she must cross a country torn by war, encountering magic, bloodshed and more as she seeks to find her own body and stare once again into the eyes of the fox possessing it, and so reclaim it. But such are her experiences in crossing the ravaged land, that once she finds her body, she faces a surprising revelation and choice about her own nature. (summary text courtesy of Inara Pey)
