THURSDAY March 31st at 7pm: DRACO! DRACO!

DRACO! DRACO!
In keeping with long tradition, we get to watch a battle between a hero and a ferocious dragon of the genuine old-fashioned maiden-eating variety—but keep your eyes open, for in the compelling, tricky, and bitterly ironic story that follows, nothing is quite what it seems...

TUESDAY, March 29th at 7pm: More from ECHO!

Caledonia Skytower continues Pam Muñoz Ryan’s 2016 Newbery Honor novel.

Ivy Lopez's parents are migrant farm laborers. It’s a year after Pearl Harbor, and her family  find themselves running a farm after the Japanese-American owners are placed in an internment camp. Forced to attend an “Americanization” school, Ivy encounters institutional racism, and also finds strength and refuge when the harmonica enters her life. But soon enough, her family’s ties to the Yamamotos put them in crisis, and Ivy finds herself keeping what she fears is a terrible secret.

MONDAY, March 28th at 7pm: 100 WORDS AT A TIME with Crap Mariner

Long ago, Mr Mariner swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet. It's been well over a decade, and we are pretty sure he really means it.

Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for Crap not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled.  And no, he NEVER has opinions! But Crap can surprise you as well.  Just when you think it is all quips and sarcasm, he zaps you to your knees with a moment of profound feeling and insight, leaving you breathless.

Check out his work at http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/
He joins us tonight, live in voice.

THURSDAY March 17th at 7pm: DARBY O'GILL and the Good People

DARBY O'GILL
And The Good People
The Only True History, as told by Brian Connors, the King of the Good People, to Father Cassidy, and afterwards related by Jerry Murtaugh a Reliable Car Driver, who goes between Kilcuny and Balinderg
THE most lonesome bridle-path in all Ireland leads from Tom Healy's cottage down the sides of the hills, along the edge of the valley, till it raiches the highroad that skirts the great mountain, Sleive-na-mon. One blusthering, unaisy night, Father Cassidy, on his way home from a sick call, rode over that same path. It wasn't strange that the priest, as his horse ambled along, should be thinking of that other night in Darby O'Gill's kitchen - the night when he met with the Good People; for there, off to the left, towered and threatened Sleive-na-mon, the home of the fairies.

AND DON'T FORGET @ 9PM ~ St. Pat's Special
"The Quiet Man"
presented by Caledonia Skytower
Caledonia shares Maurice Walsh's beloved short story of two people bound by traditions and challenged by love. Walsh's stories, including this one, were the inspiration for the screenplay of the 1951 Academy Award-winning motion picture of the same name: THE QUIET MAN.

TUESDAY, March 15th at 7pm: A Selection from THE BARD

"Song of Amergin" by Peter Pracownik
"I am a wind in the sea
  I am a sea-wave upon the land
I am the sound of the sea
I am a stag of seven combats
  I am a hawk upon a cliff
  I am a tear-drop of the sun ..."
~ from "The Song of Amergin" Translated from the Ancient Texts by James Carey

Caledonia reprises her favorite selection from Morgan Llewellyn's THE BARD, a fictional account of the Milesian invasion of Ireland.  In this selection, the not-yet-legendary Amergin discovers the power of his poetry, when teamed with the harp Clarsagh, as he calms a troubled soul and soothes a dangerous, violent situation.

Three entwined stories focusing on a magical harmonica.

We rejoin the tale of  12-year-old German boy Friedrich this week. The harmonica is about to enter his life, bringing with it change and hope. Unfortunately, the realities of the rising power of Adolph Hitler and his political party are also about to profoundly enter young Friedrich's life.
Two years later, and at the Bishop’s Home for Friendless and Destitute Children in  Pennsylvania, 11-year-old Mike Flannery finds himself in possession of the harmonica. He and his younger brother are adopted by the wealthy and wounded Mrs. Sturbridge – only she doesn’t intend to keep them, but will have them separated and one of them set to another state home. Only the harmonica might offer Mike a way to secure his brother a place in the comfort and luxury of the Surbridge household.
