MONDAY, May 30th at 7pm: Part I of "Fairest"

Aza, the adopted daughter of innkeepers in Ayortha, has always hated her appearance. Her prodigious size and her odd coloring – milk-white skin, blood-red lips, and hair that seems to be sooty black – often make her the target of stares and rude comments. Be that as it may, Aza's voice garners as much attention as her looks, for Ayortha is a land of song, and Aza is an amazing singer.

Fairest is the 2006 novel by author Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted, and takes place in the same mythical lands of Kyrria and Ayortha.

Tonight: Part One.  Presented Live in voice by Caledonia Skytower.

"Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! Ring a dong! hop along! fal lal the willow! Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!"

Tom is an enigmatic character.  A creation of Tolkien's that he never fully explained and left intentionally mysterious.  He seems to have limitless power and ancient knowledge, being the "Eldest" - having come to Middle Earth and "knew the dark under the stars when it was fearless — before the Dark Lord came from Outside."  Yet Tom and his powers stay contained to his limited realm, aware of but wholey unconcerned about the goings on outside. Click here to visit the LOTR Wikia and learn more about this fascinating literary charcter..

He saves the four hobbits from the consumptive evil of Old Man Willow, and then brings them to his house where they spend two nights and leave refreshed and reflective on their way to Bree.

Meditating through the blitz in London, she later moved to Glastonbury to continue her work.

Although she wrote mostly nonfiction, she did write a few novels, very dated by today's standards, but her real fiction gem was this book of short stories."Secrets of Dr. Taverner"The character of Dr. Taverner is a Holmesian fellow who runs a residential clinic in the English countryside. With a background in esoterics he deals with cases the establishment couldn't touch.
