MONDAY, June 1 at 7pm: Part III of "The Tale of Despereaux"

Now the adventure really gets rolling . . . We've met all the main players: Despereaux, Roscuro, Miggery Sow, and the Princess Pea. We know all about the Red Thread, the soup, the tablecloth, and how Roscuro's broken heart mended but crooked-like. With all the adventurers (and adventure related items) in place . . . we start to see how they all come together. Don't miss Part III of Kate DiCamillo's award winning story.

She'll be in the Library tonight at 7pm, and if anyone is there and wants to hear it, she'll read Part II again just for you . . .

Thursday May 28th at 7pm

Tonight: HEROIC ROMANCES
The Wooing of Becfola - We do not know where Becfola came from. Nor do we know for certain where she went to. We do not even know her real name; this only is certain, that she disappeared from the world we know of, and that she went to a realm where even conjecture may not follow her.
Courtship of Etain - A comb of silver was held in Etain's hand, and the comb was adorned with gold. Beside her was a basin of silver with little gems on the inside rim.
Plus more goodies! presented in Live Voice

WEDNESDAY May 27 at 7pm: H.G. Well's "Time Machine"

H.G.Wells had been subjected to the cruelty of class prejudices of his day. He saw what we would call a glass ceiling being placed over his hopes and dreams, regardless of his level of talent.

In The Time Machine Wells creates two sub-species of the future and calling them the Eloi and the Morlocks, and found a voice for his feelings about the extent of the unadmitted prejudice in England and what this was doing to people. He did not romanticize either the upper classes, the Eloi, or the lower classes, the Morlocks. He simply showed them slowly moving away from each other and becoming two ENTIRELY different species. There is a sadness about all this. Though Wells doesn't preach, there is a sadness in the story.

Join Storyteller Lilia Quinnell for Wells' classic examination of the dangers and possibilities of the future. Read live in Voice.

Irish Hero Tales

[Come a little early for a special introduction to Finn Mac Cool]

Finn Mac Cool was the son of Cumhail who was slain by Goll mac Morna. Cumhail left behind a pregnant Muirne who bore a handsome fair haired child and fearing the wrath of the Clan Morna she named him Demne and sent him to be fostered. He was raised a fierce warrior skilled at weaponry and fighting as well as healing and magical arts. He could never reveal his true identity but due to his fair hair he became known as Fionn or Finn. Fionn is a semimythical character, an Irish warrior who was the greatest leader of the Fianna an ancient military elite founded 300BC responsible for the protection of the High King. Fionn implemented a code of honour into the Fianna that had previously a reputation for being somewhat 'unruly'.Finn has a series of adventures involving hunting, fighting, sorcery, love, and passion. Finn has many romances, but it is with the goddess Sadb that he begets his famous son, Ossian. Even to this day Finn is sleeping in a cave, waiting to awaken and defend Ireland in her greatest hour of need.

Join us tonight for the epic tale 'Finn Mac Cool and the Daughter of the King of the White Nation'
